The Dark Knight. The second chapter in the renewed Batman saga done by Christopher Nolan, one of the few filmmakers that won’t disappoint me.
“The Dark Knight” takes Batman across the world in his quest to fight a growing criminal threat. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Batman has been making headway against local crime…until a rising criminal mastermind known as The Joker (Heath Ledger) unleashes a fresh reign of chaos across Gotham City. To stop this devious new menace-Batman’s most personal and vicious enemy yet-he will have to use every high-tech weapon in his arsenal and confront everything he believes.
Heath Ledger (R.I.P mate) is really fantastic in this one and should at least be in the running as candidate for an Oscar nomination. Maggie Gyllenhaal is a so much better actress then Katie Holmes will ever be and gave the character Rachel Dawes so much more presence. Christian Bale is great as well. His best performance for me is still in The Machinist, but this one is up there amongst the best ones. Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent is also getting better with every movie he’s in. And to this already all-star cast, add Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman, this is one that is impossible to do wrong.
My recommendation: This is the one to watch this year at the cinemas.
